THIRTEENTONES IS THE IDENTITY OF ART DIRECTOR / DESIGNER SHAWN THOMAS LEBOUTILLIER.
I grew up playing with sticks in the woods of Maine. The outdoors mean a lot to me, and I was lucky to grow up doing a ton of camping, hiking, Mtn biking, skiing & snowboarding with my family. My parents threw some skiis on my feet when I was barely old enough to walk. A few years later, my cousin showed me Mack Dog Film’s “The Resistance” and I’ve had an unhealthy obsession with snowboarding ever since.
From the beginning I’ve always felt the need to create. For a while I thought I might grow up to be an architect. I filled my sketchbooks with castles and dream homes. A pile of legos would keep me occupied for hours and hours.
Through high school I focused on art and video while playing in rock bands and competing in snowboard contests around New England. While still in school, I created my own T-shirt company involved in the live music scene around southern ME and NH.
"FROM EARLY ON, I SAW DESIGN AS A WAY OF MERGING MY LOVE FOR ART WITH MY PASSION FOR SKATE, SNOW AND ROCK & ROLL."
I was inspired by snowboard videos, magazines, album art, skateboard designs etc. and I wanted to be they guy making all that cool stuff.
After studying Graphic and Interactive Communications at Ringling College of Art and Design, I was fortunate enough to spend over 5 years creating kick ass work and capturing awards at Super Top Secret. I got to work for some amazing brands and helped grow the company from its small roots to the little powerhouse it is today. I left STS in the summer to chase bigger dreams and freelance for a few different places, namely Skullcandy Inc. and Nitro Snowboards.
The dream is to continue to do top level work for brands I believe in, While having the freedom to enjoy my time in the mountains and pursue my other passions.
When I was a kid, I thought volcanos were BAD ASS. If I were what I ate, I would be Mexican. My doppelgänger is a Russian Czar from the late 1800’s (for real though.) Batman is the only superhero I can get behind. I’ve never been to a monster truck show, so if you really wanna impress me, wink wink. Ric Flair and Stone Cold Steve Austin are the only reason why wrestling was cool. Sometimes when I’m watching a good movie my eyes get all watery like I’m gonna cry, but then I don’t because I’m a MAN. I’m a sucker for craft mac and cheese. I own a bust of king tut...
